Legal status and organisation of the Institute;
On 1 August 2008, by virtue of the Resolution of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences No. 43/2007 of 16 October 2007, a research unit called the European Regional Regional Centre for Ecohydrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences with its seat in Łódź.
The research institute named European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, hereinafter referred to as "the Institute", operates on the basis of

• the Act of 30 April 2010 on research institutes (Journal of Laws of 2010. No. 96, item 618 as amended) hereinafter referred to as "the Act";

• Act of 30 April 2010 on the Polish Academy of Sciences (Journal of Laws of 2010, No. 96, item 619, as amended) the Statutes of the ERCE PAN of 8 July 2013.

The Institute is supervised by the minister responsible for science and higher education.
Subject matter and scope of activity of the Institute:
The object of the Institute's activity is to conduct scientific research and development work in the field of other natural and technical sciences (PKD 72.19.Z) and adapting the results of such work to practical application.  
The scientific profile of ERCE PAS is aimed at promoting highly advanced ecohydrological research, monitoring and modelling systems, knowledge transfer and implementation in order to achieve a good ecological status of water, based on based on the Water Framework Directive of the European Parliament and the Council (2000/60/EC) and other EU environmental legislation.

Organisational structure of the Institute:
The Institute consists of:

• Research Department of ecohydrology of river ecosystems and urban areas

• Research Department of Molecular Ecohydrology.

The bodies of the European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology PAS are:

• Director of the Institute

• Institute's Scientific Council
